Double Exposures (S)

I had an impossibly hard time with this assignment. Finding images that line up nicely when layered: hard! Finding images with colors that work together: hard! Deciding which images to use: hard! In retrospect, I really should have stuck with B&W images.

This was my first attempt, a shot of my favorite lamp over a picture I took earlier this month in the park.

This was my messy second attempt: two photos from an art opening I went to earlier this month.

This last one is the only one I like. I went for a "painting the roses red" (from Alice in Wonderland) kind of idea. I have an LED flashlight that always looked really purple to me. I lit two paintbrushes using the flashlight, and layered that purple-y image over some hydrangeas. I ended up making half the background B&W to highlight the "painting" idea.

All in all, it was fun! I definitely learned a lot in the process.

  1. These are great! I really love the last one! The purple tones and the Alice theme is so creative! I also think the first one with the lamp is amazing! I love how you put the tree photo behind it! Good work and thanks again for choosing this topic!
